Topic: Current legislative and funding challenges facing us in higher education at both the state and national level.

Information: Steve London, first vice president of the Professional Staff Congress at CUNY. Steve London is associate professor of Political Science at Brooklyn College. He served three terms as chapter chair of the Brooklyn College PSC and as a University Faculty Senator before being elected First Vice President of the PSC in 2000.

  1. Contingent Faculty Issues
  2. Global Governance: Governance in the global campus has received scant attention in the AAUP, remarkably so. Recent turmoil in the Middle East, where many global campuses are located, brings this to the fore. I suggest discussing AAUP governance issues with respect to AAUP faculty and contingent faculty abroad.
  3. What are the implications for the rest of us and the AAUP in general of the collective bargaining challenge at public institutions in Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan?
